Can I continue working on project after submission?

Hi, would I be able to continue working on my project, maybe in a separate branch, and obviously the changes made after submission date wouldn't count, I would just want to continue working since I am thinking on some other ideas to add to the project that will not be done on time by the submission but would still love to work on them. Would working in separate branch be fine? It's for chrome extension.
